Dental Crowns

If you need to replace missing teeth or large amounts of tooth structure, you need dental crowns or bridgework. Dental crowns and bridges are some of the most effective ways to restore your smile for life.

A dental crown or “cap” is a covering that fits over a damaged, decayed, or unattractive tooth to restore its shape, function, size, and appearance. Unlike a veneer, which only covers your tooth’s front surface and needs natural tooth structure to support it, a crown covers the entire visible portion of your tooth.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a great way to restore your smile and is extremely similar to dental crowns, but with one big exception. While dental crowns help cover damaged teeth, dental bridges, or bridgework, is done when you need to replace one or more missing teeth. Dental bridges typically consist of two crowns on either side of the missing tooth or teeth, called abutment teeth. The two crowned abutment teeth then become support for at least one crown in between them, which is referred to as a pontic. The abutment and pontic crowns all together are referred to as a dental bridge and is one of the most effective ways to replace missing teeth.
